A series of road and ditch improvements will take place on state Route 161, between Plain City and Dublin. Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will close state Route 161, between U.S. 42 and U.S. 33. The road will be closed to allow crews to repair and replace damaged culverts. ODOT officials are recommending drivers use U.S. 42 to U.S. 33 to route 161 as a detour. ODOT officials have said the road should be open by 3 p.m., May 6. Additionally, Dublin officials are working on final details to begin work on a round about at the intersection of route 161 and Cosgray Road. This week crews demolished a home on the southwest corner of the intersection to make room for the roundabout. While the timeline is still up in the air, county officials are hopeful the construction could begin as early as this summer if utility details can be resolved. County Engineer Jeff Stauch said the project would last at least two and a half months but at least one lane of the road would remain open for much of the construction period.
