Bill E. McCarty, 73 of Magnetic Springs, passed away early Wednesday morning November 8, 2023 at his home.

He was born March 23, 1950 in Columbus to the late Gene and June (Freeman) McCarty. He was also preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Becky and Greg Kimler.

Marysville Exempted Village School District has given notice that it will end an agreement with the city to provide School Resource Officers in each of the buildings. The move was part of a contingency plan enacted last week when the school levy failed. In addition to providing security for the buildings, the officers served as ambassadors for the police department with community students and families. Officials have said the eight resource officers and the sergeant that oversees the program will be absorbed by the police department.
