Communities throughout the county will offer residents a variety of ways to celebrate Fourth of July, from parades to fireworks shows.
Marysville
The Marysville Independence Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from American Legion Park, travels east on Fifth Street to South Plum Street, turns west on Sixth Street and ends at Court Street. Parade line up begins at 9 a.m. at American Legion Park.
The Marysville Art League will have free crafts for kids as well as lemonade and popcorn as they wait for the parade. Visitors are welcome to tour the historical Houston House, 264 W. Fifth St., participate in an art scavenger hunt and enjoy the art league’s exhibit – Art Unleashed: Adventures of Artie, Blue Dog and Friends. Patrons can vote for the People’s Choice Award.
Fireworks will be held at the Union County Fairgrounds, beginning around dusk.
Plain City
The Village of Plain City will have a full day of Fourth of July festivities for community members of all ages.
The annual parade will line up at 8:30 a.m. and step off at 10 a.m., heading out the north entrance of Pastime Park and traveling down Chillicothe Street, turning right on Main Street and back into the park’s south entrance.
Following the parade, all vehicles must be vacated from Pastime Park by noon and relocated into the parking area northeast of the north entrance of the park (commonly known as the Phelps land.)
Handicap parking will be available at the north entrance of Pastime Park off Chillicothe Street. A valid handicap placard is required to park at that location.
There will be shuttles provided from Plain City Elementary School and the Municipal Building from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for those attending the fireworks.
The Farmers Market season kick-off will also be held during Fourth of July celebrations from 9 a.m. to noon near Bicentennial Park, at the intersection of Chillicothe Street and Main Street.
Activities in the park will begin at noon, including a wide variety of food vendors, live music performances and children’s activities like face painting, bounce houses, an obstacle course and games.
The night will be capped by a fireworks display starting at 9:45 p.m.
Prospect
Prospect will hold its Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4th at the Prospect Community Park.
Families can enjoy great food, raffles, kids’ bounce houses and games, live entertainment by David King Live starting at 5 p.m.
