The Farmers Market makes its grand opening Thursday at Richwood Park.
At the regular city council meeting on Monday, Kelly Jerew said there will be live music as well as free food on opening day, located at the market’s new home: shelter house one at the park.
“(From) 4-7 p.m. will be free food, free hotdogs, chips (and) water. We’re going to have a band, Fulton Creek Bluegrass Band is coming to play, they’re going to set up around the gazebo,” Jerew said.
She said that there will be around 11 vendors at the event. Some of the 2024 vendors include Greer Acres Family Farm LLC, Bokes Creek Orchard, Ottawa Bota Farm, S&S Homestead, Simply Authentic LLC and First Baptist Church of Richwood, according to the Farmers Market website.
Also at the meeting, Chief of Police Jim Hill said that Cody Martindale has resigned from the Richwood Police Department. Martindale had been a part time officer for Richwood for the last 10 years.
“We do want to thank him for the past 10 years (for) his dedicated service toward Richwood Police Department,” Hill said. “This was the only department that he worked for so we’ll miss him.”
In 2021, Martindale received a Life Saving Award as recognition for his part in saving a woman’s life.
In other meeting action:
-Mayor Scott Jerew said Thomas Palmer, Executive Director with Preservation Ohio got back with Council President Reddy Brown and said he will begin working on the stipulations for the Opera House.
-Council discussed tearing down the old building right in the middle of the playground to open up the park and make it look better.
